Detox before the Retox!

As Autumn moves into Winter, we are fast approaching the season of parties and twinkling lights, and the last thing you want is to feel anything but your best. So we’ve rounded up a host of ideas to keep your skin glowing and to have you looking and feeling on top form.

Drink and eat…well!

Don’t forget to drink! Water!! Two litres a day should keep you properly hydrated – heating can leave skin dehydrated and the body needs the water to help flush out toxins to keep you healthy and your skin refreshed.

Challenge yourself to a week of detox – no sugar, no processed foods and no alcohol – just fresh fruits, vegetables, lean protein and oily fish. Try a broad spectrum food supplement to make sure vitamin levels are optimised (we love Patrick Holfords Pro Vitality Formula).

Prepare well

They say that good preparation is the key to success…

Before you get into the shower, try body brushing – it stimulates blood flow, encourages circulation, increases lymphatic drainage and helps exfoliate dead skin cells – all perfect ways to reduce fluid retention (a key player in cellulite) and to optimise the skin for absorption of beneficial lotions and potions.

Mask are another great way to keep the skin glowing and healthy. The Jan Marini Papaya Enzyme mask utilises the rejuvenating properties of papaya and sloughs away dead cells to reveal bright and healthy skin. Image Skincare Vital C Hydrating Enzyme masque packs the skin with antioxidants for a super charged boost. Ask a member of the team to direct you to the best skin mask for your type of skin.

Woman in bikini

Question

I’ve been working hard on my bikini body and I am looking forward to going on holiday, but I have developed some spots on my back and chest and I want to get rid of them before I bare all on the beach. I have been scrubbing in the shower with my loofah but it doesn’t seem to be helping – what can I do? Claire, Oxshott

Answer

What I would suggest is that you start with a deep cleanse for the back. Exfoliation then a gentle steam and extraction will systematically clear and lift impurities. Try our Deep Cleansing Back Treatment or the Jan Marini Glycolic Back Treatment.

At home you would continue the good work by using a good exfoliator containing a fruit acid, which we can advise you on. You would do this weekly. Just before you go away, you  could consider having a spray tan to give you a golden glow.

What is the difference between IPL and Laser for Hair Removal?

Meso-tastic!

Eliance Mesotherapy from Jill Zander

Long hailed as the secret weapon in the arsenal of French beauty tricks, Mesotherapy is an incredible treatment that can be used to help, amongst others, reduce cellulite, promote hair rejuvenation, encourage skin rejuvenation and skin hydration,  help in the reduction of scars, lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture and luminosity.

How does it work?

Mesotherapy is a non-surgical treatment that works by creating microinjections that convey specific nutrients, vitamins and substances such as hyaluronic acid into the skin to promote regeneration and healing. Using a specialised pneumatic  Mesotherapy device, the device allows a micro needle to move in and out of the skin at a rapid pace – around 500 micro injections per minute, creating tiny channels for specific formulations of product to penetrate the skin. As the movement of the needle is so rapid, and because it is so tiny, it means that the treatment is virtually pain free, a fantastic bonus!

Depending on what you want to achieve from the treatment, be it cellulite reduction, anti-ageing rejuvenation or hair restoration, a specific formula of products can be used to target the problem area directly. So if you are looking to reduce those annoying cellulite pockets, we would use a solution containing phosphatidylcholine which helps dissolve fat cells; for hair restoration it would be a cocktail of nutrients and vitamins that stimulate hair regrowth. At the same time, the localised action of the needle stimulates collagen and elastin production which helps to strengthen and rejuvenate the skin, as well as increasing the micro circulation which is vital in revitalisation of skin, hair and to reduce cellulite.

One of the great things about Mesotherapy is that it is very targeted and precise – there is almost no damage to surrounding tissue or bruising and over a course of treatments, effects are cumulative and very obvious – a real wonder treatment!
